Torrent Power lines up Rs 7,200 crore green hydrogen foray

Torrent Power Ltd on Monday raised its bet on next-generation renewable energy (RE) by announcing entry in the green hydrogen (GH2) and ammonia production with an investment of Rs 7,200 crore in addition to projects worth Rs 57,000 crore on the table for attaining 10 gigawatts of RE capacity by 2030.

The Ahmedabad-based utility said GH2 and green ammonia project, aimed at catering to the domestic and export markets, is expected to generate about 1,000 direct and indirect employment on top of the 25,000 jobs seen from the investments in the RE capacity expansion. It is also pursuing a pumped storage power project capacity of 5-8 GW entailing investments of Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 crore.

India’s first AI-enabled semiconductor fabrication plant has officially started construction in Dholera, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s semiconductor industry.

This Rs 910 billion project, led by Tata Electronics in collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), aims to make India a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain. Highlights • Location and investment: The fab will be situated in Dholera, a key industrial zone within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, with an investment of Rs 910 billion.

Tata Electronics Signs MoU with Tokyo Electron to Purchase Semiconductor Equipment and Services

Tata Electronics has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) to purchase semiconductor equipment and services.

This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the semiconductor equipment infrastructure for India’s first Fab being built by Tata Electronics in Dholera, Gujarat, and its assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

The collaboration will focus on both front-end fabrication (creating semiconductor wafers) and back-end packaging (assembling and testing semiconductor chips).

CM: Dholera is top investment choice for semiconductor units

Delivering a keynote address on ‘0.Gujarat: An Industrial Powerhouse Driving Economic Growth‘ at the World Hindu Economic Forum in Mumbai on Sunday, chief minister Bhupendra Patel said that the state is dedicated to ensuring a green future with the renewable energy and green hydrogen policies. He added that the Dholera SIR (special investment region), with world-class infrastructure and logistics, has become a top investment choice for semiconductors and other emerging sectors.

Lam to open office at Tata Electronics’ Dholera chip fab

When Tata Electronics completes building India’s first semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), Lam Research India will set up an office there and support it, said a senior executive of the local arm of the US-based supplier of wafer fabrication equipment.

The facility will have a manufacturing capacity of up to 50,000 wafers per month. The Semiverse, Lam Research India’s virtual fab is actively used by all its customers and fabs around the world for simulation of their fab processes.

 

Lam Research India will set up an office in Gujarat to support this facility. The virtual fab by Lam Research, called Semiverse, will help reduce the cost and time of experimentation.

India’s first semiconductor chip from the Tata Group plant in Dholera will most likely be out by 2026.

The Rs 91,000 crore mega semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera is run jointly by Tata Electronics in partnership with PSMC. This fab will have manufacturing capacity of up to 50,000 wafers per month and will include next generation factory automation capabilities deploying data analytics and machine learning to achieve industry-best factory efficiency.
